An outtake from Alliance of Equals, with author’s commentary has been added.

Here’s the link.

Paper edition folk, be of good heart! My dialog with Amazon has born fruit! And you — yes, you! — may order the paper edition of Splinter Universe Presents! now.

An addendum to this post regarding the publication of Splinter Universe Presents!

Amazon has written to say the content of Splinter Universe Presents! is freely available on the web (which it is not), and that I must Prove I haven’t stolen it. I have replied. However, this may put Amazon publication back. We will publish on schedule with the other ebook vendors, including Baen, BN, Kobo, Apple &c.

Paper edition fanciers — I cannot tell you when — or if — a paper edition will become available.  Watch this space.

The authors and Pinbeam Books are very sorry for this snafu.

. . .or possibly, DEconstruction Site.

I am in the process of taking down the older Splinters — and combining them into a single volume, tentatively entitled Splinter Universe Presents!  The First 17 Years!  Or some such.  This will make the site cleaner and more able to receive a Very Long Splinter that I have been contemplating posting for Some Time.

So!  Watch the Skies!  And if your favorite Splinter goes missing — know that it’s not gone forever.

Sharon Lee

Added today, the splinter entitled, Daav’s Leaving Town, with author commentary.

Enjoy!

Added today, the splinter entitled “Shan’s getting married,” with author comments.

Enjoy!

The discovery of a small folder of short Liaden snippets from the mid-1980s has inspired a fit of housekeeping. We will be, over the next while, posting those snippets, with author commentary, here, so, yanno, watch the skies. Or this site, whichever works best for you.

In the meantime, in order to get my hand back into Splinter Universeing, a non-Liaden snippet from the same time period, indeed! found in the same folder — has been posted here.

We continue to go through the Lee & Miller archives and as time permits will be adding old stories and splinters as we get to them. Here’s one that hasn’t been seen for awhile.

Running The Race was written by Steve and published in Dream Again: A Journal of Spirituality and Madness, back in 1995, as a follow-on for a workshop he did for his then job as Citizen Access Specialist for the Citizen Access Network . That basically meant he was  Sysop and Chief Trainer for the Maine Meeting Place BBS in its role as an attempted community center for people who, by the of their personal situation and issues, were living in isolation.  Some were physically disabled, some had mental health issues, and all needed a way to communicate.

Many of the participants in the workshop, which took place off-season at a well-known Maine winter resort, wrote or tried to write about their difficulties. Poetry, fiction, screeds, agendas, books — all were in evidence at the workshop. There were lots of plans, lots of big ideas, lots of goals … and eventually two or three actual publications. Steve was invited to contribute on the first issue’s theme, which was isolation.
