So, Steve was apparently, eventually, going to do an audiobook of TimeRags<\/em>.\u00a0 For all I know, he completed the project, and I haven’t found the file yet.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, here he is reading one of his favorite poems, “It’s so easy on the mountain.”<\/p>\n

It’s so easy on the mountain
\nto be free of other worries and other thoughts
\nit’s natural in the heights
\nwhen one wrong move
\ncrashes you ten thousand feet
\nto rock:
\nthere is nothing else<\/p>\n

And when you see the snow and smog
\nover man’s constant cities
\nyou’re above it all:
\ndistant threats
\ninked upon a lawbook’s page
\ncan’t touch you here,
\nfor escape is easy on the mountain<\/p>\n

Yes,
\nwe together can grasp air
\nwith our hands,
\nmake ourselves eaglets or doves
\nand smile
\nwhile we reach together
\nfor the rocks<\/p>\n
