Compton Crook feature by Steve Miller, November 1978

I started writing for newspapers in the late 1960s both as a staff writer (and later in various editorial capacities as well) for the UMBC school newspaper and then for a widely assorted bunch of  community newspapers in the suburban Baltimore area. I eventually ended up editing several different community papers, including a couple of tabloids…

One of my favorite papers to work for was the Unicorn Times. Here, one of my favorite interviews ever … with a man who made a lasting impression on me, and on my writing.  I should note that the photograph used to illustrate this article was also later used by Locus for the obituary of Compton Crook I wrote for them — Steve Miller
